Neighborhood Content
Neighborhood Content
BubbleLife has developed its own technology to gather and filter news from third party sources. Then, we complement this news with our own editorial content to fill in areas of coverage. This combination of third party sources and our own editorial content provides the most comprehensive neighborhood news available.
We work hard to support the local sources that contribute to our neighborhood news. Their continued success benefits our readers. Unlike many news aggregation services, we take a few extra steps to help these neighborhood sources maximize the value of their content.
We show only a portion of the original article.
We do this not only in respect for fair use copyright, but also because we want people to return to the original site to read the rest of the original story. We want all neighborhood news read. We typically show less of the original story than other aggregation sites, such as Google News (news.google.com) or Delicious (www.delicious.com).
We “frame” but don’t display advertising.
Where possible, when a user views a story we place an frame above the story with links back to our site. These links help our readers navigate and gain exposure to additional neighborhood content. Framing is an HTML web technique that allows two sites to be viewed at the same time on the same page. We don’t copy someone else’s website. We show you the actual site. Some other news sites frame the original site and then show their own advertising. BubbleLife doesn’t display advertising when displaying another site’s web page.
We drive traffic to third party content sites.
Based on the framing technique described above, our third party providers will see increased traffic and exposure. This extra exposure helps these sites grow their following and their advertisers gain new customers. The original website hosts a visitor to their site, just as they would normally. In operation, it’s no different than readers going directly to the original website.
We give full credit where credit is due.
BubbleLife never claims credit for other sites’ stories. Our job is to gather and distribute this content. This comprehensive approach to neighborhood news is the value that BubbleLife delivers and is the basis for our own advertising revenue.
We assist local publishers.
Though BubbleLife operates using our own proprietary technology, we recognize that most local publishers don’t. When asked, we’ll gladly consult with local publishers to help them improve their own platforms. We also can provide additional advertising and content delivery services.
